The PTA is holding a raffle. The prize is a camera worth $200. Each raffle ticket costs $5. One hundred tickets are sold and a winner is drawn at random. Find the expected value of the purchase of a ticket. (Use a negative sign in your answer, if necessary.) Expected Value: $?????

0 is the joke answer. sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x100=500$ and the 200$ the cammera's worth is would be raffeled for 2$ a ticket so sombody just made 300$ . So if you buy all 100 tickets for 500 you lose 300. so for every 5$ spent you lose 3$..there's a negitive number -3$. My my logic might be off.

okay thank you that is what I thought I just needed someone to check my math basically lol

actually each ticket is worth -5 exept one worth a camera.
