like terms are the ones that have exactly the same letters and the same exponents 12j and 42j are like terms 17j^3 and 18j^3 are like terms these are not like terms 17j^3 and 32j^2 are NOT like terms...in order for them to be like terms, they would have to have the same exponents. any questions ?
