To determine whether an equation is represented by direct variation, it has to fit the formula : \(y=kx\) where \(k\) is the constant of variaton. In your case, all you have to do is divide both sides of your equation by -6, and solve for y.\[\frac{7x}{-6} = \frac{-6y}{-6}\] Then your k will be the value of your slope.
