Slavery still existed even after the Am. Revolution because this nation depended on the production of cotton & tabacco which called for great amount of labor workers. Plus the indentured servants started becoming landowners after working off t heir debts which meant the farmers of southern states (Virginia, Maryland ) lost workers.
