Please help!! fan/medal Marco is buying hamburgers and hot dogs for a party and only has $40 to spend. Hamburgers cost $6.49 per pound. Hot dogs cost $4.99 per pound and Marco needs at least 5 pounds of hot dogs. Write a system of inequalities to represent this situation.
Would it be: 6.49h + 4.99 (5) \[6.49h + 4.99 (5) \ge 40\]
if h = hamburgers and d = hot dogs
Actually it would be \[h+hd(5)\le40\]
h= hamburgers and hd=hot dogs
Because remember he only has 40 dollars to spend and he must have 5 pounds of hot dogs. There is no specified amount of hamburgers needed so 5 pounds of hot dogs plus however many pounds of hamburgers must be less than or equal to 40 dollars.
Oh okay
Thank you!
Anytime :)
Ok I have another one if thats okay
That's fine, go ahead.
The boys and girls golf teams are trying to raise $750 for an out of county tournament. The boys team is selling candy bars for $2 each. The girls team is selling candles for $4 each. The girls need to sell at least 100 candles to clear out already purchased inventory. Write a system of inequalities to represent this situation.
this one is actually a little confusing for me @SolomonZelman
boy team: y=2x girl team: y=4x -100 this is what I think.
y=2x for the boy team, because they make 2 dollars per candy, the girls are y=4x because the make 4 dollars per piece. However the girls have to sell 100 pieces to cover the spending. ( I would ask though, and the boys don't have to cover the cost of purchasing candy?! )
Ohhh I see so the girls have to sell 100 candy bars before they can profit from their sales whereas the boys can already begin making profit @SolomonZelman
yes lol:) It was nice to help, even though I am not good at math.... ty for allowing me to develop my math logic skills jk
hahaha surrree Mr. Honorary Professor of Mathematics lol @SolomonZelman
@ariabstr so do you get it?
i mean if I explain it, of course she gets it, what do you expect? :) lol
I'll be offline in a minute. my schedule (as well as relatives) wants me.
