Geometry, Geometry, Geometry.. Help, please?

OpenStudy (.th3_m0nst3r.):

If AD=x+3, BE=x+y, and CF=4x-y, then x=___and y=____

OpenStudy (.th3_m0nst3r.):

@juliet8

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[2(x+3)=x+y\] \[2x+6=x+y\] \[x+6=y\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm pretty sure this is correct X=4 and y=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no x=4 and y=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, i'm incorrect on all of this. Just hang on a minute

OpenStudy (.th3_m0nst3r.):

Okay xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, i'm honestly not so sure on this one... '-' my best guess would have to be x=4 and y=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@misty1212 does my answer sound correct or am I wrong?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[CF=3(x+3)=3x+9=4x-y\] so we can make two equations \[x=y+9\\ y=x+6\] and solve those

OpenStudy (misty1212):

no i think i made a mistake i need paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, I just can't think hard enough to wrap my mind around it because i'm tired...

OpenStudy (.th3_m0nst3r.):

Hmm, it's okay I'll just write something random down. Thanks for trying though! And awe, if you're tired you should get some sleep! @juliet8

OpenStudy (misty1212):

i keep getting both \[x=y+6\] and \[x=y+9\] which is not possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I want to go to sleep but my mom isn't home yet and she won't be able to get inside. I would have my dad open the door for her when she gets here but... he's asleep...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can tag me in your next question if you have more, I can try to help. :)

OpenStudy (.th3_m0nst3r.):

Alright, will do. :b
