The graph shown here is the graph of which rational function? A) F(x)=-4/x B) F(x)=1/x+4 C) F(x)=1/x-4 D) F(x)= 4/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Directrix Can You Explain How To Do This Please

Directrix (directrix):

@norajayy Is that vertical asymptote x = -2 o r x = -4. Look at the graph. Depending on which one it is, I think we will have a good idea of the function that goes with the graph. Look and let me know about the vertical asymptote, please.

Directrix (directrix):

Need an answer so that we can wrap this up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its X=-4

Directrix (directrix):

That means that (x + 4) is a factor in the denominator of one of the options. Do you see that option?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i think i get it now

Directrix (directrix):

Which answer did you choose. Let's be sure you get it, okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the 1/4+x right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+4

Directrix (directrix):

y = 1/(4 + x) is what I got. The 4 + x has to be in the denominator. When x = -4, (x + 4) = 0 which creates a problem in that division by 0 is undefined.

Directrix (directrix):

>>>its the 1/4+x right Yes, the F(x)=1/(x+4) @norajayy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much i really needed your help i meant to put 1/x+4 not that 4+x

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome.
