Raphael practices soccer twice a day with his team. His afternoon practice is 2 times as long as his morning practice. Raphael practices a total of 3.75 hours in a day. Raphael wants to know how long his morning practice is. Write an equation to determine how many hours, t, Raphael practices in the morning. Do not solve the equation for t.

OpenStudy (ganpat):

let the morning practice be t hours so the afternoon practice will be 2t hours can you make something out of it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

????????? \[t=2t \times 2 \]

OpenStudy (ganpat):

Nope, Total is 3.75 hours, why are you multiplying it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \[3.75=t \times 2t\] ???

OpenStudy (ganpat):

almost der.. when they say product/times, then you multiply and when they say sum, total.. you just add them t + 2t = 3.75.... is the equation.. now you can find value of t

ohhh i get it now thank you
