OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

How do I solve a linear equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you give an example?

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Sure! Here

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

x - y = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Linear equations have many solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have like a full question?

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Yeah it says the equation and then find the slope of it's graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know @Nerd94

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u sure that's the right equation

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Yeah

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

"Given the linear equation x-y=5 , find the slope of it's graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wheres the graph

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

You have to make the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got one

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

@iGreen. You got anything yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the slope..we can change it to slope-intercept form. x - y = 5 Subtract 'x' to both sides: -y = -x + 5 Multiply both sides by -1: y = x - 5 Now it's in the form of y = mx + b, where m is the slope. So the slope here will be 1.

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Thank you so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perfect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem.

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Can you go through another one step by step with me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure.

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

3y + 4x = 12 (find y-intercept)

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

I think it's 4

OpenStudy (hulagirlmb):

Yeah it's 4. Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is 4 your right
