During his presidency, Thomas Jefferson cut prices on land and encouraged westward settlement. What was Jefferson's motive for doing these things? He was seeking to cut military spending. He had a vision of a more agrarian society. He wanted to increase taxes to reduce government debt. He was trying to encourage more people to move to the U.S.
D, the last 1

I agree with @jeremyleonrobninson
Why did the Southern states not want Congress to tax exports? It would raise the price of tobacco and that might harm trade. It would require states to raise taxes on other aspects of business. It would reduce their ability to purchase manufactured goods from Europe. It would give Northern states an economic advantage over Southern states.

Veena writes an essay about Native Americans in the 1800s: Native Americans and U.S. settlers struggled for land during the early 1800s. U.S. citizens slowly pushed Native Americans off their traditional lands. They fought wars, such as the Seminole War, for control of Louisiana. Native Americans lost these struggles and were pushed farther and farther west. Which statement corrects a mistake in Veena's essay? Native Americans usually gave up their lands voluntarily. The Seminole War was fought over control of Florida. Most Native Americans moved south, rather than west. U.S. citizens had little interest in Native American lands.
