(Its kind of long, but the answer is short!) the answer I got was = buy/sell 2500 flowers and we could make a profit with $500 dollars.

.50 represents the cost of each flower
40% is the additional cost per flower
500 is the profit
.50x + .40x = 500
Each flower will have 20 cents tacked on because .50*40% = 0.20
.70x = 500
x = 500/.7
x = 714.28   must sell 715 flowers
