First thing I'd recommend is to understand what is meant by "global economy." That's a loaded concept. Do some basic searches to get a gist of the word. Think about what sort of events can change the global economy. What made the global economy drop in 2008? What sort of things made it go back up? In past recessions, what helped to improve the economy? 

I'd also recommend brushing up on the term "globalization." And skim some articles about FDR's New Deal to get a sense of the kinds of policy changes that can positively influence economies.
