Given a line segment with endpoints A(16,8) and B(1,3) what are the coordinates of the line segment partitioned 2/5 from A to B?

Plot your two points on a piece of graph paper. Draw a line connecting the two points. Draw a horizontal line from point B. Draw vertical line from point A. The intersection between the horizontal line and vertical lined is point C. See attached graph. Find the distance from point B to point C. Multiply this distance times 2/5 to find two fifths of this distance. Add the x value of point B to this calculation. This will be the x value you are looking for. Find the distance from point C to point A. Multiply this distance times 2/5 to find two fifths of this distance. Add the two fifths distance you just calculated to the y value of point C. This will give you the y value you are looking for.
