OpenStudy (danjs):
Have you learned about the circumference and area formulas?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes in the past. but i forgot and i am not very fond of this subject
OpenStudy (danjs):
Circumference = 2 * pi * radius
OpenStudy (danjs):
Area = pi * r * r

2 times 3.14 times 48?
OpenStudy (danjs):
yes, that is the approximate circumference using pi = 3.14
OpenStudy (anonymous):
301.44?
OpenStudy (danjs):
yes. now find the area
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what is the r in that formula

OpenStudy (danjs):
it is the same circle, same radius as the r in the circumference calculation.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2 times 48 times 48?
OpenStudy (danjs):
yes,
OpenStudy (anonymous):
isnt area Pi r squared
OpenStudy (danjs):
Units for circumference [in.]
Units for Area [in.]^2

OpenStudy (danjs):
yeah r^2 "r squared" is the same as r x r
OpenStudy (danjs):
\[Area = \pi * r^2 = \pi * r * r\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
7234.56
OpenStudy (danjs):
yes...square inches in^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thanks. i have some more questions if you dont mind. I have my final tomorrow and i am having trouble reviewing

@DanJS
OpenStudy (danjs):
For this one they gave you the entire diameter of the circle.
Remember the radius is half of the diameter.
