This verb is transitive and this is because the king is looking at "his vast lands". A transitive verb is when the verb has an object, while an intransitive verb is where the verb does not have an object. For example, "The bird flew" would be intransitive, while, "He cut the apple" would be transitive. Hope this helped :)
