help. a salesman received a monthly salary of shs 250000 and commission of 5% on all his sales. if his sales last month were shs 700000. what was his total income?

OpenStudy (asett):

Can you take a guess? @Stranger.Tz

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

5% of 700,000 = .05(700,000) = 35,000

OpenStudy (stranger.tz):

i need a concepts, so as i can do i tin my own

OpenStudy (asett):

Cool, so first do what the texaschic101 did, multiply his earnings times the rate of his commission.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

a commission is a percentage of what you sell. He sold 700,000 worth of stuff. He gets a 5% commission...which we turn into a decimal, and multiply it by his sales for his total salary for that month.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lets say a person sells 500 worth of stuff and he gets paid on commission. His commission is 10%. You would turn 10% into a decimal and then multiply by his sales. .10(500) = 50 getting paid a commission is not like an hourly rate or a salary.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

it is based on the amount of stuff you sell

OpenStudy (stranger.tz):

yes i get it thank guys for helps

OpenStudy (stranger.tz):

thank you so much
