Half angle problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sin(7pi/8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this value they gave me theta or half of theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or is it sin(theta) and I need to plug theta into the problem

OpenStudy (phi):

Unless you know radians very well, I would change to degrees. It becomes more obvious. 7pi/8 is 315/2 = 157.5 degrees. that is in the second quadrant, and corresponds to 22.5 degrees, which is 1/2 of 45 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So theta is 315?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And 7pi/8 * 180/pi is 157.5

OpenStudy (phi):

yes |dw:1418994873462:dw|
