Spring Tide – A spring tide is when the effects of the Sun and Moon work together to bring extreme tides.  A spring tide happens during a full and new moon.

Neap Tide – A neap tide is when the effects of the Sun and Moon partially cancel each other out.  This happens during a first quarter and third quarter moon.
