A spacecraft is flying towards the moon. The moon’s gravitational pull on the spacecraft will _________. A. Increase B. Decrease C. Remain the same D. Repel the spacecraft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation for gravitation is \[F_{g}=\frac{ GM_{moon}M_{craft} }{ r^{2} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case the mass of the moon isnt changing. The mass of the craft we assume is not changing because we are told it is not firing its engine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the only thing changing is r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since it is flying towards the moon r is decreasing so what will that mean for the force then?
