Tommy says to his teacher, "Finding surface area of rectangular prisms is easy! Just find the area of one face, and multiply by six, because there are six faces on every prism." Write Tommy a note explaining to him why his method is not fail-proof. When and why is he going to run into errors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, derp - the only instance in which Tommy is right is when the rectangular prism is a cube.

Otherwise - the sides aren't equal and Tommy gets an F for failure.

im not a derp

Then Tommy goes home with a bad report card and when his daddy finishes drinking and finds out about Tommy's report card...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow whole story

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you must have parent problems

I didn't mean to imply you were. derp 1. used as a substitute for speech regarded as meaningless or stupid, or to comment on a foolish or stupid action. 2. foolishness or stupidity.

But anyway - so when his father finds out about it, Tommy's going to get it. And when tommy's going cry himself to sleep that night he will remember that the surface area is only 6*the area of one side only with cubes. The end.

No, I really don't have parents but I like imagining how it's like to have them based on what others have told me.
