The train can go 100 miles by 1 hour
But the given information expresses the trains velocity.
Speed. We are only given a magnitude here. Velocity is a vector and requires the magnitude and a direction of the motion. Unless you are assuming this is limited to 1-D motion, but it doesnt say that in the question.
