OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

Can someone check my answer to this question please: What is the probability that out of 400 babies born 185 or fewer will be girls ? Assume that boys and girls are equally probable.: I got the answer 7.2%

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

@satellite73 @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Would it not be 46.25%? divide 185 by 400? 200/400 to be girls is already 50% so..

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

nope thats not 1 of the answer choices, this is how i did it:P(x ≤ 185 girls) = binomcdf(400, .5, 185) = .0735 0r 7.35%

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

its probably easier than it looks but i dont understand it for some reason

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

let me think..

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

it alright, thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm getting 0.0734828691927236, so that's 7.35%

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

yea thats what i entered as well, thanks!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

np

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
