OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

True or false. Suppose a sample of 225 was taken from a population with a standard deviation of 75 feet. In this case, the sample mean will be within 5 feet of the population mean 68% of the time. (I think its true I just want to make sure, thanks!)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

75/sqrt(225) = 5 is the standard deviation of sampling distribution so 5 feet corresponds to one standard deviation

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

and since one standard deviation=68% its true right?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

68% of the values are within one standard deviation of the mean so you're absolutely right!

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

ok thanks!
