Which association best describes the data in the table?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Why did you put negative?

Directrix (directrix):

I'm going to try to plot these points to see a shape of the distribution. I did put the points in order: (5,17) (8,30) and so on from small to large values of m. As the m values get bigger, the n values get bigger so I'm voting on positive association at the moment.

Directrix (directrix):

I am having no luck plotting points online.

Directrix (directrix):

If I were answering this on my homework, I would go with positive linear association. I can make an argument for the positive but cannot be sure about the linear. Disregarding the last two points (16,88) and (18, 100) which are outliers, I think the basic rule is that n = 4m approx which sounds linear to me. But, go with what you think.

OpenStudy (zpupster):

positive linear - i would say also from desmos

Directrix (directrix):

Thanks. I need to get familiar with Desmos because I could not get it to do anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

Directrix (directrix):

Isn't that cool, @1497 You and I should learn to graph there. I tried but something ran amok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

Directrix (directrix):

At a glance, the picture tells the story - positive, linear.

Directrix (directrix):

Thanks, @zpupster
