Why are taxes paid to different levels of government in the United States (local, state, and federal governments)?
People think they are paying less tax than they actually are because the taxes are distributed. Different levels of government collect different taxes so that everyone is forced to pay something. Different levels of government supply different services and they all must be paid for by taxes. All levels of government must collect a portion of the total taxes if minorities are to be protected.
State: roads, state parks, police departments. Federal : national parks , war . They also pay for law enforcement (police, sheriff and deputies), fire departments, education (teacher salaries, books, schools, etc.), various government and public services, to name a few.
So B?
i am agree with option C....
No, the answer is C. B is incorrect because it makes it seems like the government is just frivolously tossing around taxes to make citizens pay for unknown programs. C briefly explains why different levels of taxation are necessary. Each level of government provides different services; hence each level must be paid separate taxes.
