Help with uh... Parabolas?

OpenStudy (one098):

Ew I hate parabolas

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

What is the domain of the following parabola? \[ y ≥ 0 \]All real numbers\[ x ≥ 1 \]\[x ≤ 1 \] I got all real numbers, just wanted to check my answer c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup I think you are correct

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

But then there is \[x≥1 \]and the minimum is 1... So could it be this as well? I'm confused cx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Minimums do not determine domain. The only exception is if there is an open circle indicating the point doesn't exist

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh, ok Thanks! c:

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x >= 1 is put in there to throw you off the domain is the set of all real numbers because the graph continues on forever in either direction and you can plug in any real number x to get some real number y out

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh ok Thanks @jim_thompson5910 c:

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
