How would a women know she's pregnant?

OpenStudy (iamstark):

A woman can know this by using simple HCG urine test. It can be performed at home using simple to use HCG urine test kits.

I wonder if they mean know without tests. There are several indicators. Lack of a period, swelling of breasts, darkening of nipples, increased sensitivity in breasts and nipples, morning sickness, unexplained weight gain, swelling in feet, increased appetite. There are more and some of these may not be obvious until it is already evident.

Yes, out of them lack of menstruation is the most reliable indicator. But still it's best rely on a proper chemical diagnosis rather than simply speculating on physiological/anatomical/behavioural changes. Plus HCG kits are easy to use, are cheap and readily available at medical stores. So in my opinion it should be given priority.

They physical symptoms of pregnancy are not a very reliable source of evidence of pregnancy. This is because a lot of them can be caused by other factors, such as stress, poor diet, activity level changing, etc. hCG tests are a better indicator of pregnancy but some women may have very low levels of hCG meaning they will not show a positive, or a false negative. There is not real one certain way to identify one is pregnant. The best thing to do is consult a doctor who can perform a wide range of tests to indicate pregnancy, such as a hCG test, blood test, ultrasound, etc.
