As a case worker, Bonnie Armstrong earns $13.47 an hour plus time-and-a-half for weekend work. Last week she worked her regular 40 hours plus 8 hours of overtime on the weekend. What was her total pay for the week?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

are you just checking this one too?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea sorry lol 538.8

OpenStudy (aripotta):

well 538.8 is the amount she gets just for the 40 hrs of regular work. but she also worked 8 weekend hrs, which she gets paid time and a half for. so add 1.5(13.47)(8) to 538.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i times 1.5 to 13.47 ?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

multiplying 1.5 and 13.47 will give you the amount of money she makes per weekend hr. multiplying that and 8 will give you the amount of money she made for 8 weekend hrs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

700.44?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 1.5?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

it said she gets paid time and a half for each weekend hr. so "time and a half" is the same as 1 and a half, or 1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh okay i get it thank you (:

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no problemo :)
