hi @Pamela16 ,first Question :- you have 38 unit of squares as area;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm thats not a choice for question 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divide each region with 38 ; for example :- probability of getting point inside region A = 6/38 = 3/19 probability of geting point inside region C = 14/38

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you will get the right answer is option B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12/38= 6/19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aha i understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please help me with the rest? @borak

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question 2 :- to calculate the probability of the being to left o circle d ( the area that are left to the circle ). you must to calculate this area and divide it' with the rectangle area;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's give the area left of circle name M; the diameter as you see is 0.8 km; then the radius is 0.4km the area of circle is r^2*pi = 0.4^2* pi = 0.5026 km^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's take the first 1km of the rectangle (from the left) , this in the picture you can see this;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 1 km from the left include the M area + half of the circle :D and on the other hand the area equal to 1 *0,8 = 0.8 ( because it's rectangle ) the whole area = 0.8 to find M we have to => whole area - half of the circle = M

OpenStudy (anonymous):

M = 0.8 -( 0.502/2) // we need half of it the big rectangle = 2.4*8 the probability of M area ( the left of circle) = M/big rectangle = (0.8 - 0.502/2)/(2.4*8) = 0.2875 if rounding to nearest tenth you will get 0.29 as answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Question 3 :- region 1 represent a trapezoid region 2 rectangle region 3 triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

calcualte all the areas , divide area of region 2 / area of all of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area of region 1= 6 cm^2 Area of region 2 = 8 cm^2 Area of region 3 = 4*4/2 = 8 what the probabilty of the region 2 = region 2 / (region 2+ region 1 + region 3) = 8/(22) = 4/11
