if you sold  3 flowers, the profit would be 0.20 +0.20+0.20
and so on.

It is easier to use multiplication:   the profit for 3 flowers is 3* 0.20

but you can't say the variable is 2500.  a variable is a letter like "x"
so say  " the variable x  is the number of flowers sold"

then at the end, you figure out that x= 2500 is the answer that gives you a profit of $500.
