When writing linear equations ,how do you determine which form of line to use ???

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i beleive itll ask you for one form or another, otherwise you use whatever form fits your fancy.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you are given particular parts to play with, then each form has its benefits: a point and a slope can be used to construct the point slope format a slope and a y intercept can be used to form the slope intercept form the x and y intercepts can be use to form the intercept form etc ...

Directrix (directrix):

@SelenaD Do you have a particular problem about lines that you'd like to solve? If so, post it and we can see which form you might want to use.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On okay

Directrix (directrix):

Do you want to post the problem here now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write an eequation in point slope form for the that passes through (5,1),(-3,4). The use the same point to write the same equation in standers form and again in slope intercept form .show all steps. Someone please explain this one to me ? Would be awesome=)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is the problem?

Directrix (directrix):

We need the slope of the line passing through (5,1) ,(-3,4). Do you know how to get the slope?

Directrix (directrix):

Attached is the slope formula.

Directrix (directrix):

Using these points, will you find the slope? (5,1) ,(-3,4).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

Directrix (directrix):

Can you find the slope between the points (5,1) ,(-3,4). If so, what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know
