Carrie drew some nonlinear graphs for some real world scenarios. Which of the following scenarios could she have drawn a graph for? A beetle population, first recorded at 10,000, has been declining over the last few years due to a pesticide. Each year, there are half as many beetles as the year before. A tree frog population, which started at 2, doubles every three weeks. A machine can bottle 1,800 bottles of soda every hour. A window washer determines his horizontal distance from a 40-foot flag pole when washing the windows on one side of a 40-foot building to be 500 feet.

whats up?

OpenStudy (smart8thgrader):

the sky hahahahah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha good one

OpenStudy (smart8thgrader):

but for real whats the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ay i have somthing for you its not scam this is a real site that is rare sghn up and you can start getting stuff https://www.listia.com/signup/7448912

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the answer is the third one!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its the third one :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A window washer determines his horizontal distance from a 40-foot flag pole

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep everybody agrees so do c or the third one and also medal people who you think earned one!!!

OpenStudy (smart8thgrader):

you got me wrong not you emily

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its wrong???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the fourth one actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A linear function is a function that acts like a line. the window washer is linear because he is looking in a straight line the machine bottler is linear the tree frog is non linear because it is exponential the beetle population is non linear because it is also exponential

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats right but there is four options not three :).
