Linear is when increase is slow and steady... like, every hour, it increases say, just 1, or 2, or whatever.
As long as it's steady. Like...
1,2,3,4,5
or even
1,4,7,9

But this one doubles every hour, so you can expect the increase to be anything but steady.
1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128
as you can see, it explodes into a huge number pretty quickly.
