How about realistic fiction?  I am willing to do research about it but nothing in history.  I wouldn't mind doing just regular fiction though.

So realistic fiction that isn't in the past but perhaps in the future? How about something along the lines of an unexpected apocalypse that wipes out most of the population and leaves people to fend for themselves, as the criminals begin to take over the destroyed world and all government and order is wiped out after the apocalypse? Just a thought.
