where does the graph y=sinx intersect y=1-cos x. Give the number of intersections between and including 0 and 360
ye
:)
did you try to graph sin x and 1 - cos x
yes but im supposed to name the angles?
we need to find how many times y = sin x and y = 1 - cos x intersect on the interval [0,360]
pretty clear that they intersect at \((0,0)\) right?
To me: sinx = 1-cosx --> sinx + cos x =1. square both sides to have \(sin^2x +cos^2x +2sinxcosx =1\).--> 2sinx cosx =0 . hence either sinx =0 or cos x =0 If sin x =0, hence x =0 or pi, or 2pi. If cos x =0, hence x = pi/2, 3pi/2 Those are solutions.
um r u sure because the choices are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
hehehe.... so?? just convert to the times, right? you have 2 times for sinx =0, and 2 times for cosx =0, that shows it =0 4 times, right?
