please help will medal which of the functions have a range of all real numbers choose all that apply a y=secx B y=tan x C y=cot x D y=csc x

OpenStudy (perl):

lets start with the first graph y = sec x https://www.desmos.com/calculator/r0pk0fnx7h

OpenStudy (perl):

does that have range all real numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so

OpenStudy (perl):

nope, it is missing y values between -1 and 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i see it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@perl

OpenStudy (danjs):

hi

OpenStudy (danjs):

The range, is the y values for each of these graphs, which ones stretch out to + and - infinity in the y-direction?

OpenStudy (danjs):

tangent for example, does have undefined values at multiples of every 90 degrees, that is in the x direction, the y direction however, goes off to + and - infinity when you approach each of those 90 degree intervals. So the tangent functions range is all real numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B and C

OpenStudy (danjs):

right, the cotangent will look very similar to the tangent, and have all real values for the range too.

OpenStudy (danjs):

Did you graph all these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (danjs):

do you see why, as shown above, the secant and cosecant function , doesn't have every value covered in the Y direction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (danjs):

cool, then you have it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its b and c right

OpenStudy (danjs):

correct
