TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Do you know what "mean" means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

we just add up all the x values for all the given points and divide them by how many of them there are.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So for example if the point is (1,0) and (2,0) we add up 1+2 which equals 3 and then since there are 2 numbers 3/2 is the mean.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Do you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1.5

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I was just giving you an example with random points...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I get the example

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol. yeah :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So what are the points?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

http://prntscr.com/5lb8mo

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

They will be in the form of (Variable A, Variable B)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Then we will add up all the 8 values for variable A and then divide it by 8 to get the mean.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

so what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so I add got 30 and divide by 8 and got 3.75

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

there are 8 x values... add tehm all up. you should get a bigger number than 30...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

x values refers to (x,y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

86/8=10.75

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

umm..

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Lets first put up all the points.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

(2,2) , (2, 8) , (4,3) , (5,1) , (6,3) , (7,5) , (8,6) , and (9,2)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And up all the x values which are in the form (x,y)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Add***

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh ok now I get 5.375

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thxs so if I round to the oneth place (5.375) it will be 5.4

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

No problem. And yes.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

it would be the tenth place... fyi

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:P lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thxs I have other question can you help me
