Sorry it's lengthy .. essay below
Building a stronger nation would be one of the most difficult task throughout the late 1700’s and mid 1800’s. Their struggles and Improvements consisted of The First Industrial Revolution, a new Bank, War of 1812 Land exploration, new purchases, big Texas Decision, and The war between America and Mexico. The First Industrial Revolution actually never really had a halt, but this was the beginning of it between 1712 throughout the 1800's and continued so forth. The Industrial revolution is when a series of new products were being made in a quick amount of time. The steam engine was built in 1769 by James Watt. Technically was made by James Harqeaves but his version didn't work so well and was later perfect by Watt. This was a power source for steam boats, train, and factories. Then, came along the cotton gin by Eli Whitney in 1794. This product was to simplify and make producing cotton a lot easier and faster. In 1844, the Telegraph was made by Samuel Morse. This would be popular in sending important messages faster than sending a letter. Another Important invention would be the sewing machine. The sewing machine was made by Elias Howe. This invention would work well with the invention of the cotton gin also. The first Industrial revolution was the beginning of intelligent people making devices and products that bettered their country and was the starting point of most of the items today. Along with many new things came The Nation Bank. Unlike the inventions this was a more negative production. The Second Bank of The United States did not mix well president Andrew Jackson. He completely hated the bank because it was unconstitutional and unreliable. He ended up taking all federal money out of the Second National Bank and putting it into state bank. This sped up the process of the bank being closed since it had little money left. The American system was made to improve and focus on expanding. Although, it didn’t always go as planned. It raised tariffs to help build America back up. Some states could not afford the new taxes which raised conflict. The system played a part in the First Industrial Revolution also. The system encouraged improvements and got just that. As for money wise it was not an agreement for all sates. Eventually, The Constitution was thought of from the help of James Madison. Before the Constitution was the articles of confederation, this was a much weaker systematic laws for the states. The articles of Confederation ultimately failed. This is where the constitution came in and was much stronger and followed more. James Madison, along with others helped to perfect the Constitution. Although more people we're following the constitution, there was still war. Madison called for war against Great Britain for economical reasoning and pride. The most attention was brought to Madison over the rumor that our blood was shed on our territory. Nonetheless, many other important reasons such as restrictions of trade, British wanting to expand land, and wealth decreasing. The American soldiers fought at New Orleans, New York, and Baltimore. They were able to push back the Britain soldiers. Further, what really ended the dispute was the Treaty of Ghent. The Treaty of Ghent was needed because both sides were losing money and the war was getting no war. The actual causes were never addressed in the treaty so, that tells me that it was just to end the war. Nothing more. Nothing less. The states were on the hunt for more land in 1803. Thomas Jefferson Purchased the Louisiana Purchase for 15 million dollars. This doubled the United States. Expanding was to key to all success in Jefferson’s mind. The Louisiana Purchase went from the Mississippi river to the Rocky Mountains. Along with the new land came the debate of Free states and slave states. The Missouri Compromise had the answer to that. Missouri came to the union as a slave state and Maine as a free state. Although the more land gained the same question was arisen. Two popular territories that the United States wanted was Oregon, Texas, and California. California and Texas were under Mexico’s territory. Oregon on the other hand was under Great Britain. Texas actually wanted to become a part of the United States. They won their independence over Mexico and joined the US as a slave state. This unbalanced the slave state to Free State ratio. Later Mexico went to war with the U.S and that ended in a Treaty. The Treaty of Guadalupe gave the United States over the amount of land in the Louisiana Purchase. As stated this would upset the balance of free to slave states. In 1850 a new compromise was settled. California would be the Free State, thee rest of Mexico would be decided by the citizens and government in each state. Slave trade would no longer exist in Washington dc, and lastly the fugitive slave act would be in order. The fugitive slave act was for southerners who had runaway slaves that moved to Free states that they could reclaim. Creating an American society was one of the most difficult, but rewarding task throughout the 1700's and 1800's. Overcoming unconstitutional banks, War of 1812, Texas Revolution, Mexican and American war, and many other challenges. America also gained from the Land exploration, Louisiana Purchase, Texas, and many other land in the west. Some trials failed and some trials worked. We continue to grow and improve. As the famous quote states, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!"
