what does it mean when the correlation coefficient has a positive value

OpenStudy (aripotta):

means that the line has a positive slope

OpenStudy (aripotta):

positive relation? i'm not sure what they're looking for as an answer

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i guess you could say that as x increases, y also increases

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

AriPotta is correct. Positive correlation means the slope of the regression line is positive. If r is close to 1, then it's very strongly linearly correlated. r = 1 means it's perfectly linearly correlated.
