OpenStudy (anonymous):
what about the expression is confusing you?
OpenStudy (dtan5457):
if 3^x=5, is it just 5^4?
OpenStudy (dtan5457):
625 is not an answer choice

Hint :
\[\large 3^{x+4} = 3^x \cdot 3^4\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is is \[3^{x+4}\] or \[3^{x}+4\]
OpenStudy (dtan5457):
but wouldn't 3^x just replace the entire term when you replace it?
OpenStudy (dtan5457):
the first one ^
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes and 5*3^4 does not equal 625

my answer choices are 14, 86, 405, and 50000
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ganeshie above had it right when you multiply you add exponents so you can rewrite the second expression as\[3^{x}*3^{4}=?\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
from the first problem we are given \[3^{x}=5\] so we can then write it as \[5*3^4=?\]
OpenStudy (dtan5457):
405. lol thanks, i knew it was a ton easier then it seemed.
Nnesha (nnesha):
oh so it was 3^4 :O
