" r = theta" is a function in the polar coordinate system, but is not a function using rectangular coordinates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's false?

use a simpler case. the polar equation r = 1 is a curve of a circle. this is a function in polar coordinates. it is not a function in rectangular coordinates , since a circle does not pass the vertical line test. the rectangular equation is x^2 + y^2 = 1 but r = 1 is a function . so its true, i think

ohhh ok thank you!
