what makes an organism an animal

OpenStudy (abhisar):

There are few features which make an organism or classifies an organism as an animal. \(\bullet\) Animals are multicellular \(\bullet\) Animal cells lack cell wall \(\bullet\) Animal cells have organelles like lysosomes.

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

1) Organisms having MASS TRANSPORT SYSTEM are animals 2) Organisms storing glucagon ( stored energy) instead of starch are animals 3) Organisms having a backbone are also considered animals

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Umm, plants do have transportation system...

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

its MASS TRANSPORT SYSTEM which involves a pumpimg organ (heart) a network of blood vessels (arteries, veins and capillaries) and a transport medium (blood) :)

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

thats pumping...srry

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Hmm..then how will you classify Porifera (sponges) as animals. Also, all animals don't have backbone. It's only true for chordates.

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

i didnt said the word ONLY in the third point... oh and yeh i will consult my teacher about Porifera....well thnx for the information ..really helpful :)
