How can this three-dimensional, symmetrical, capital letter "I" block be broken into pieces so that it results in the smallest number of parts? Describe each part with measurements.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I am mathematically correct... I believe you can break this I block into pieces by multiplying. If that's not correct try adding.

k k sis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id see why you have to add tho if you break it u divide right @iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

You divide it into three sections..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it can divide into 4 cubes and 3 triangular prisms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"u can cut it into 3 rectangular prisms the two large horizontal ones and the middle one 2 large prisms measuring 5*2*2 = 20 cu cms in volume 1 small measuring 2*2*1 = 4 cu cms in volume"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i was right

OpenStudy (igreen):

Here's how you can cut it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok @iGreen so one cube and two rectangular prisms

OpenStudy (igreen):

The small rectangular prism measurement will be 2 x 2 x 1. The two larger rectangular prisms are the same..and the measurements are 2 x 2 x 5

OpenStudy (igreen):

You got it. @_lilb_to_smooth_4_U_
