Solve by the linear combination method (with or without multiplication). 2x + 8y = –2 5x + 6y = 9 A. (3, –1) B. (–2, 2) C. (–2, 7) D. (–1, 3)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please divide by 2 both sides of your first equation, first, and after that multiply both sides of the same equation by -5. Then add your new first equation to your old second equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dividing the first equation by 2 would give me x+4y=-1 right? @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):
