Help please!! :) The genotype represents: A. a paired combination of genes B. either a dominate or recessive gene C. a given phenotype D. two alleles

OpenStudy (abhisar):

What do you think it should be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking either B or D but I'm still not sure. @Abhisar

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

i think its D

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Genotype is basically the genetic make-up/description of a cell. It tells about what kind of genes are present inside a cell. Does this rings a bell?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so that would narrow my choices down to A or C sooooo iam thinking C ? @Abhisar

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

is can be....two alleles e:g AA or Aa (for albinism) showing two alleles

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Why I think it is not D It will be the answer only if we are considering one trait like say tallness but there are many traits in a cell for example do you remember dihybrid cross ? there are four alleles in a dihybrid cross.

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

hmmmm...

OpenStudy (abhisar):

But if we consider option A i.e paired combination of genes then i think it's true

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

hmm yeh it can be the word PAIRED matters alot ..

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Also for D, there are sometimes like say ABO blood grouping which has more than two alleles for the same trait.......

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

yeh homozygous

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Overall the options are two close but if we have to select only one my opinion will be A, i.e paired combination of genes.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*too

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

hmmm well this question really is confusin ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh okay i sorta see what you are talking about now! @Abhisar

OpenStudy (sreekar369):

i think its option A and i will agree with abhisar

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

hmmm still confused...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is Option A also. But thanks you guys for the Help!!

OpenStudy (sreekar369):

genotype represent a paired combinations either dominant or reccesive or both

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Let's call @aaronq for his opinion

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

ur welcum

OpenStudy (aaronq):

I also think it's A. D would be true if all organisms had only two possible alleles for a gene which isn't the case(plants can have many more)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Well yes, that makes much more sense !
