I got 6624 for the area of the rectangle and 3737.385 for the area of the semi circle
you don't want to find the area, you want to know the distance around the figure, or the perimeter
so you want to find the circumference of the semicircles
\[C~=~2\pi r\]
wait what's the plus 2(96)
the circumference of the whole circle would be 216.66. the perimeter is 216.66 + 96 + 96 because the length of the rectangle is 96
so is it 216.66 x2 because theres two circles?
no. C = 2 pi r is the circumference of a whole circle. since the two semicircles have the same measurements, we can basically say there's just one circle. so C = 216.66 is the circumference for both semicircles
and then 96 + 96 ?
so 216.66/2 is 108.33. so 108.33 for each semicircle. look below to see
see where the 96s come from?
yeah thats the rectangle
exactly. so 96 + 96 + 108.33 + 108.33 is your answer
so 408.66 ?
yes
thank you!
