Which of these points lies on the line described by the equation below? y - 8 = 3(x + 6) A. (8, -6) B. (6, -8) C. (-8, 6) D. (-6, 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be C? (-8,6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what I would first do is diribute the 3 to the x and 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be y-8 = 3x +18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but then what do I do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well what would you do to get it into slope-intercept form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3*0 + 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but that doesn't help me find the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What I would do is add 8 to both sides to get y=3x+26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that cancels the 8 out leaving y=3x+26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you attempt to graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1420316335141:dw| ok what do i graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well the y intercept is 26 so you have to go up 26
