PLEASE HELP ME!!! Read this excerpt from a news article and answer the question that follows:
Putin: Snowden a dubious present MOSCOW (AP) (1307151229736) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday characterized National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden's long stay at a Moscow airport as an unwelcome present foisted on Russia by the United States. In comments reported by Russian news agencies during a meeting with students, Putin noted that Snowden flew to Moscow on June 23 "without invitation," intending only to transit to another country. But Putin says the United States intimidated other countries against accepting Snowden, effectively blocking him from flying further. "Such a present to us. Merry Christmas," he was quoted as telling the students on the Gulf of Finland island of Gogland.
Look at the title of this article and then determine what Putin means by the sentences in bold. A.He wishes Edward Snowden had arrived closer to Christmas. B.He wishes Edward Snowden had arrived after Christmas. C.He wishes Edward Snowden were not stuck in his country. D.He wishes Edward Snowden could stay longer in Russia.
@skyphos please help me
Ok...just let me read it :D
@skyphos ok go ahead
Well...we can eliminate the first 2 choices A and B because they are irrelevant, Putin did not intend that he wanted Snowden to come for Christmas.
So that leaves us with C and D...lets break these apart shall we?
In option C Putin wishes Snowden to not be stuck in his country, which is somewhat true since the US was "intimidating other countries to not accept Snowden"
In option D Putin wishes Snowden would stay longer in Russia which i really dont understand why if Snowden is asking for asylum in other countries...
But in the final sentence Putin says It's a present to have Snowden....(the guy who practically exposed the US's actions like NSA) So what do you think between these 2 choices?
I think it is C
Umm i was thinking more of a D since Snowden intended just to pass by Russia not stay in it, but since the US intimidated, he was stuck in Russia
what about you @beastieman21 ?
any suggestions?
C is my choice
Well ok....what was right @babyblue123 ?
i dont know they dont tell me if my answer is right or wrong it tells me in the end
so is it D?
lol ok....you choose...."You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" go with C if you want or D
I think C
