help me? Picture below will medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (danjs):

These are similar triangles...

OpenStudy (danjs):

the ratios of the sides will be the same.... to find out what x is then \[\frac{ 84 }{ 7 } = \frac{ 156-x }{ x }\] After you find x value,, Side AC = 156 - x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be \[84x = 1092 7x\] \[91x= 1092\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = 12? and AC = 156-12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so @DanJS AC = 144

OpenStudy (danjs):

hi, back

OpenStudy (danjs):

84x = 7(156 - x) 84x = 1092 - 7x 91x = 1092 x = 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!!

OpenStudy (danjs):

just had the distribution part set up a bit wrong,, somehow you have the right answer though. lol

OpenStudy (danjs):

oh i see, you just didnt type the minus sign in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I suppose there are more than one ways to skin a cat then! Thanks again.

OpenStudy (danjs):

84x=10927x missin the minus

OpenStudy (danjs):

84x = 1092 - 7x
