Explain why the myth that "athletes need additional protein" is not true. What considerations for protein might the vegetarian or "vegan" athlete have to make. What risks are there for the over-consumption of protein.

Well first of all, "athletes need additional protein" is said basically based upon the fact that they work out and exercise more then someone who isn't an 'athlete'. Secondly, more exercise means they lose body fluids faster, so they have to stay hydrated more often. -------------------------------------------------------------------- If a non-vegan/vegetarian athlete includes meat or seafood in their meals, a vegan/vegetarian athlete wouldn't; they would simply need to add in other alternatives that might serve as if it were meat.. so on.

However, they dont need additional protein because there body, physically and mentally, becomes prepared for the living lifestyle of the athlete.
